Detailed Description

This xApp is built on the BubbleRAN Slice Control service model and provides real-time control and monitoring of slicing algorithms within the MAC scheduler in the RAN. It supports multiple slicing algorithms, including Network Virtualization Substrate (NVS), Earliest Deadline First (EDF), enhanced EDF (eEDF), Policy-based Ratio (PR), and enhanced PR (ePR). The PR and ePR algorithms follow 3GPP-defined Radio Resource Management (RRM) policies. The Slice Control service model enables dynamic slice lifecycle management (e.g., slice creation, modification, and deletion) as well as UE-to-slice association and de-association. These capabilities allow fine-grained, real-time slice reconfiguration and monitoring via the O-RAN E2 interface.

Key Features

  • Real-time RAN slice control and monitoring
  • Support for multiple MAC-layer slicing algorithms
  • Dynamic slice lifecycle management
  • UE-to-slice association and de-association
  • O-RAN E2 interface compliant

Use Cases

  • Slice-aware MAC scheduling for efficient radio resource utilization
  • MAC-layer slicing algorithm evaluation under dynamic traffic conditions
  • Adaptive RAN slicing for performance and efficiency optimization
